MASTUL constantly strives to create a better future for disadvantaged and vulnerable groups. The MASTUL Foundation has been helping disaster victims since the floods started in Sylhet. MASTUL is constantly working to create a better future for underprivileged children and implementing flood recovery initiatives to bring in those affected by floods.
This year’s Eid-Ul-Adha was an exception in Sylhet. A week of continuous rain has caused catastrophic flooding in the northern region of Sylhet. According to the latest figures, 41 adults and children died, 1 million houses were destroyed, and 5 million people were seriously affected by the floods. Many people are doing urgent work but still can’t get started. Many families lost their homes, belongings, and livelihoods. So it was a dream that they would celebrate Eid by performing Qurbani and eating meat.
In the mindset of those helpless people, MASTUL took a remarkable initiative to carry out Qurbani operations in the flooded areas of Sylhet. Qurbani meat has been distributed to helpless people who are suffering in flood-affected areas. MASTUL purchased Cows for remote Sylhet areas with donors’ and sponsors’ help. MASTUL distributed about 100 cows and goats in some districts, especially for those who were affected by the flood and led a terrible non-human life. Finally, on the eve of Holy Eid’s Day, July 10, 2022, MASTUL managed to distribute Qurbani’s meat to 10,000-15,000 people. MASTUL’s response team served Qurbani meat that day in 14 different districts. There are also flood-affected areas in Sylhet, where the flood waters are so high that people cannot even have the availability of cooking. The MASTUL team went there with the help of the Bangladesh Army and handed out the cooked meat for Eid to those helpless and vulnerable people. These Qurbani activities continued for 3 days of Eid in different districts of the country.
Through donations, MASTUL was able to distribute Qurbani meat to people affected by the flood, and thanks to our donors and sponsors for making all of these possible. MASTUL is also grateful for the tireless support of Bangladesh’s local government and the military.
